Naked Mole-Rats are real busy underground tunneling mammals, living deep underground in Africa! Looking more like a hotdog with teeth, than a mole, these 3 inch long mammals live in large families in the hot African underground.

Naked mole-rats live like wasps, bees, and termites. In a ranking or caste system,  where a queen is big-mamma, and all the soldiers and workers obey orders from her! Naked mole-rats are easy prey when out of their tunnels,  so they need to stay tucked underground. Roots and more roots are their menu items. When some root foods are found, they all chirp to let the others know it’s dinner time!

How does a cold-blooded naked mole-rat stay cozy-warm in the winter? They pile on top one another. One body on top another plus the stale and windless underground air makes for warm quarters!  Can you see much of any eyes? Science tells us living in continuous dark places, generation after generation, the eye holes are not as needed as ears and their whiskers. Read about it in the above article.
