We go to church, Sunday School, Life-groups, take time for devotions, take our faith everywhere with us all day long, and believe God, right? Not always is that the case. Do I really believe He, my Savior, will totally hear my prayers? Why are some prayers seemingly not answered and others are on spot?

What’s His Word say to us….” I know the plans I have for you…. not to harm you…. give you a hope and a future…” Jeremiah 29 11-13 (bits and pieces of it). The prayers that seemed ignored or not answered I need to change my view, my daily view, of how to look at God inside my faithing-It (or walking into my personal faith). God’s overall plan for my life is PERFECT because He is perfect…. His perfect is not my perfect. It is even WAY BETTER!

Bottom line: When we pray for anything, we are asked to first BELIEVE that God is able to do that thing.

“But when he asks, he must believe and don’t doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord, he is a double-minded man.” James 1:6-7

Hmmm. But what does God do when we feel hopeless? What does the Lord do when all the reality of the problem seems to point to ‘NO WAY OUT’ or “A MIRACLE? I DON’T THINK SO”. How many times do we come up feeling empty after asking God? We looked everywhere we know to look for His answer but did we ask our heavenly Father- truly believing God for His answer?

God’s gift to my family on July 4, 2004

This is an excerpt from an article I wrote several years ago for Oak Hills Crossings paper. Though I write my BLOG for pre-teen parents/grandparents, this article not only encourages us but also all people of faith or struggling faith or maybe those who have bailed out from trusting God for one reason or another. This morning I needed this and I hope to encourage you too.

A 4th of July telephone call (2004) soon showed me again how intimate and personal God is and wants me to BELIEVE He hears and will make “the thing” that seems so impossible to be even more profoundly evidence of Him in it!

My husband and I received two phone calls from our kids (they were 24/26 years old) who live in different parts of the country. We thought we were to hear “Hey, Happy 4th, Mom and Dad!”

That wasn’t the case.

Our daughter called us first with a her anxious and unbelievable story of how she had just lost her purse and all the things a young mom carries in it. Seveal hours later our son called from his apartment in Washington DC saying he could not find his wallet! Yes! Both our children live separate and totally different lives from one another, yet they experienced the same loss, on the same day and had never had this experience before. God was planning something big here and it wasn’t a 4th of July picnic!

All day my prayers were relentless and as the minutes turned into hours I found myself in deep communion with the Lord Jesus, as I went through long day. I believed Jesus Christ, but how much did I believe Jesus was in this ‘very personal, seemingly small problem’. Did I believe He can do what He said He can do in His Word? (many of the promises I had underlined in my Bible were tried and true and I began to pray back a few of them to Jesus). I told my Lord that He gives me my breath moment by moment and my heart to beat from one beat to the next…then I can believe Him to be that faithful and that personal heavenly Father with my kid’s wallet and purse.  I kept telling the Enemy of doubt and fear to back off! Faith has legs so I walked out in my belief and spoke against my fear and doubt.

When our daughter called she explained how her purse had actually blown away on the freeway. (Crazy because when I was 14 years old mine did the same thing!) Hours later, our son called and explained he had just arrived home from a business trip only to find that his back pocket was empty. He called for prayer as he has for years. I remembered instantly “stop doubting Victoria and believe” John 20:27b

I asked Jesus, the One who sees (El Roi) into my heart, my kids hurt, our needs etc. I asked Jesus for a miracle for both our children. I (believed) that my daughter’s purse be found (though it was one in a million to my thoughts) and Jesus would receive the glory and then when our son called (with his horrible story) my prayer got more adamant and I asked boldly for God’s glory be seen as his wallet would be found. That both kid’s faith would grow, other people would hear and come to believe Jesus for His grace of salvation and hear of His tender and intimate care. I found myself really and fully believing what I was asking God to do! I was walking out of the impossible into FAITH-ING IT!

Within six hours of my daughter losing her purse, she called full of joy, thanksgiving and praise. A lady had found it, called my daughter and then she and the lady met by God’s grace! By evening after having been all day so deeply touched by this call and still agonizing over our son’s drama, our called ecstatic and praising God as our daughter had. Our son began to tell us about the two men, unknown to him knocked at his door in Washington DC (!!!) and had there in their possession our son’s wallet! It was found in the parking lot of his apartment. But these men had no idea where it came from. They went from apartment to apartment for a long time hoping what they had found would be given back to its owner. Jesus had a plan- involving way much more than I could have imagined. A Best-ever plan and answered prayer.

Many times what we pray for is not given, but just wait…another bigger miracle waits for us! A precious and priceless gift given by the very hand of the Father in heaven. Just wait and see how He will bring “all things together for the good to those who love the Lord” ….

As sure as God raised His Son from death and sent His Holy Spirit to live inside of us…Jesus Christ’s miracles will continue to explode all over people’s lives, increasing their faith walk until the end of time. But we will miss them for sure, if we don’t have eyes to see and a heart that aches for Him and His ways that are higher than ours.

I have found over the years that faith does not refuse to see my reality, but it chooses to look through my difficulties into God’s promises! Faith by faith or faithing-it as I call it…one act of faith answered by the Lord Jesus will lead me to another and more powerful belief that “He will supply all my needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.”

PROVERBS 3:3-4: ‘Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
